African Bank Soweto Marathon 2026

The African Bank Soweto Marathon , the People’s Race , returns on Sunday 29 November 2026, a circular route starting and ending at the Johannesburg Expo Centre in Nasrec that winds past the township’s most storied landmarks. A half marathon and 10 km run on the same morning make it a festival of running for every level.

2 km into a moving tour of the country’s history, cheered on by some of the warmest crowds in world running. The early 06:00 start beats the November heat. Entries are snapped up quickly once registration opens , the marathon field has a cap, so enter early. Train for heat and altitude, and get to Nasrec early for parking and bag drop.
