Phenomenal Women returns to NIROX Sculpture Park on Sunday, 16 August 2026, with the Whispering Angel Winter Harvest Picnic , an afternoon celebration of women, music and rosé set on the lawns of one of Gauteng's most beautiful venues. From 10:00 until 17:30, the sculpture park in the Cradle of Humankind becomes a harvest-style picnic ground where friends gather on blankets, glasses of Château d'Esclans' famous Whispering Angel in hand, and the programme unfolds gently towards sunset.

What to Expect at Phenomenal Women The day is curated as a slow, intimate afternoon rather than a festival crush , ticket numbers are deliberately limited to keep the lawns relaxed. Expect harvest-style picnic fare, Whispering Angel rosé from Provence as the signature pour, and Bernie's Bar keeping the rest of the glasses topped up.

Winter sunshine, sculpture-dotted lawns and the quiet of the Cradle of Humankind do the rest. The Line-Up Music and words carry the afternoon: Deniece Marz and Nelee spin an all-vinyl set, AusTebza brings the bass, and poet Noxolo Desire delivers a spoken-word tribute to Maya Angelou , the writer whose poem gives the event its name.

It is a line-up built for listening with a glass in hand rather than dancing in a crowd, perfectly matched to the setting. Tickets, Times and What to Know General admission costs R350, children under 12 pay R80, and all ages are welcome. Gates open at 10:00 and the picnic wraps up at 17:30, before sunset.

Tickets are limited and sold through Howler on the NIROX events page. Ample secure parking is available on site. Leave the gazebos, sporting equipment, pets and outside food and drinks at home , picnic offerings and bars are part of the experience. Why Phenomenal Women Is Worth the Drive NIROX Sculpture Park, on the R540 Kromdraai Road in the Cradle of Humankind, is barely an hour from Johannesburg and Pretoria, yet feels a world away , indigenous gardens, world-class sculpture and open winter skies.

Pairing that setting with a women-centred programme of vinyl, bass and poetry in the middle of Women's Month makes Phenomenal Women one of August's most memorable outings. Pack a blanket, gather your phenomenal women, and book before the limited tickets sell out.
