Take to the skies at sunrise with Bill Harrop’s “Original” Balloon Safaris, Southern Africa’s longest-established licensed hot air balloon airline. Operating since 1981, we offer an unforgettable hot air balloon safari over the beautiful Magalies River Valley, just west of Hartbeespoort Dam and approximately an hour from Johannesburg and Pretoria.

Your experience begins before sunrise at our private launch site with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and freshly baked mini muffins while you watch the balloons being prepared and inflated. Then it is time to climb aboard for approximately one hour of peaceful flight, drifting with the morning breeze and enjoying spectacular views across the countryside.

After landing, celebrate the flight with sparkling wine and orange juice before returning to our Clubhouse Pavilion for breakfast. The complete experience takes approximately three to four hours and is operated with an uncompromising commitment to aviation safety, professional service and warm South African hospitality.
