The Wits Art Museum (WAM) is one of Johannesburg’s cultural treasures, holding one of Africa’s most significant collections of historical and contemporary African art. Housed in a beautifully converted glass-fronted building on the edge of Braamfontein, WAM is free to enter. The collection spans classical African art, modern and contemporary South African work and important Southern African holdings, shown through a changing programme of curated exhibitions, talks and walkabouts.
