Returns
Returns, Refunds & Defects Policy
Your rights to return goods and get refunds in the Marketplace.
Effective: to be confirmed on approval
Interim version. This document reflects current commercial decisions and is published in good faith for transparency. It is not yet final. Final terms will be confirmed after sign-off by South African counsel and the Gauteng Tourism Authority. If you have legal queries in the meantime, contact [email protected].
Scope
This policy covers physical goods bought in the Marketplace. Bookings and event tickets are covered by the Cancellation & Refund Policy.
7-day cooling-off (online purchases)
Under section 44 of the ECT Act you may cancel an online purchase of goods within 7 days of delivery, without reason, and return the goods. You pay the cost of returning the goods unless they were defective. Refunds are made within 30 days of cancellation.
Faulty, defective or unsafe goods (CPA)
Under sections 55-56 of the Consumer Protection Act, goods must be safe, of good quality, in working order and free of defects. If, within 6 months of delivery, goods are found to be defective, unsafe or not as described, you may return them and choose a repair, replacement or refund, at no charge to you.
Goods damaged in transit or not as described
If goods arrive damaged, short, or materially different from the listing, report it within a reasonable time (ideally within 48 hours of delivery for transit damage). We arrange a replacement or refund and recover the cost from the vendor or courier as appropriate.
How to return and get a refund
-
Start a return from your account (Orders) or email [email protected] with your order number and photos where relevant.
-
Keep the goods in resaleable condition for cooling-off returns; this does not apply to defective-goods returns.
-
Refunds are made to the original payment method via PayFast.
-
Change-of-mind returns by vendors
Beyond your statutory rights, individual vendors may offer additional voluntary returns; any such policy is shown on the listing and cannot reduce your CPA/ECT Act rights.
Non-returnable and final-sale items
Items lawfully marked non-returnable (e.g. perishable or personalised goods) are not eligible for change-of-mind returns, but your rights for defective or unsafe goods still apply.
