Shipping & Delivery Policy
How Marketplace orders are delivered, and your rights on delivery.
Effective: to be confirmed on approval
Interim version. This document reflects current commercial decisions and is published in good faith for transparency. It is not yet final. Final terms will be confirmed after sign-off by South African counsel and the Gauteng Tourism Authority. If you have legal queries in the meantime, contact [email protected].
How delivery works
Marketplace orders are fulfilled by the vendor and delivered by a third-party courier. The vendor packs and dispatches; the courier carries; you receive. Visit Gauteng is the platform, not the carrier.
We use Pargo (pargo.co.za) and Bobgo (bobgo.co.za) to offer both door-to-door delivery and a network of pickup-point collections across South Africa. At checkout you choose between door delivery and the nearest available pickup point; the price for each option is quoted in real time by the relevant carrier.
Delivery areas and costs
-
Door delivery and pickup-point options, areas served, and the price for each are pulled from Pargo and Bobgo at checkout. Some vendors may restrict to a narrower area, shown on the listing.
-
Delivery cost is calculated and shown before you pay; some vendors offer free delivery thresholds.
-
Cross-border or outlying-area surcharges, where they apply, are quoted by the carrier at checkout.
-
Timeframes and tracking
Estimated dispatch and delivery times are shown on the listing and at checkout. Where no time is agreed, dispatch is within [number] business days and, as a longstop, within 30 days (section 46 of the ECT Act). You receive tracking details where the courier provides them.
Risk and your rights on delivery
Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery (section 19 of the Consumer Protection Act). You may refuse goods that are visibly damaged, that are not what you ordered, or that arrive after an agreed delivery date. Inspect your parcel on arrival.
Failed or missed delivery
If delivery fails because no one is available or the address is wrong, the courier may re-attempt or hold the parcel; re-delivery or storage fees may apply and are your responsibility where the failure was not the vendor's or courier's fault. Persistent failed delivery may result in the order being returned and refunded less reasonable costs.
Late or non-delivery
If goods are not delivered within the agreed time, contact us. Under section 46 of the ECT Act, if goods are not delivered within 30 days (and no other period was agreed) you may cancel on 7 days' notice and be refunded.
Your data and the courier
To deliver your order we share your delivery name, address and phone number with the courier, who may use them only to complete delivery. See the Privacy Policy.
